Syracuse men's lacrosse battles Yale for a trip to the Final Four on USA

Cortland vs. Western New England When: Wednesday (Time TBA) Where: SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex About the matchup: The Red Dragons are playing for a trip to the Division III Final Four and have a rematch with Western New England, who they beat 16-5 on April 4. Cortland's top five scoring defense gives up just 5.78 goals per game. They beat Aurora 14-8 in the second round Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals. If the Red Dragons win Wednesday, they will host the national semifinals Sunday against Rochester Institute of Technology or Tufts. No. 3 Le Moyne at No. 1 Adelphi When: 4 p.m. Saturday Where: Garden City, N.Y. About the matchup: The Northeast-10 foes will play for the third time this year for a berth in the Division II national championship. Adelphi knocked off Le Moyne 10-9 in overtime in the regular season, but the Dolphins avenged that setback with a 7-5 win in the NE-10 title game. The Panthers still got the top seed in Le Moyne's bracket despite the more recent loss. It should be another defensive battle as both teams rank in the top four in goals allowed per game. Cornell vs. No. 3 Ohio State When: 12:30 p.m. Saturday Where: Byrd Stadium in College Park, Md. About the matchup: Rob Pannell's seven points led the Big Red past Maryland in the first round while Ohio State routed Towson 16-6. The Buckeyes have won seven-straight games, and their leading scorer, Logan Schuss, is seventh in the country with 4.31 points per game. Ohio State's scoring defense ranks just behind Maryland's at 11th in the nation, although Cornell had no trouble with the Terrapins and poured in 16 goals in the opening round. The Buckeyes have never made the Final Four. Cortland women vs. Trinity When: 1:30 p.m. Saturday Where: Owings Mills, Md. About the matchup: The Red Dragons have breezed through their first three tournament games, beating their opponents by an average of 16.3 goals per contest. This marks Cortland's third-straight Final Four berth, but Trinity, last season's national champion, knocked the Red Dragons out of the Tournament a year ago in the semifinals. The Bantams come in at 20-0 and boast the nation's No. 3 scoring defense. The championship game is Sunday at noon. No. 4 Syracuse women vs. No. 5 Florida When: 2 p.m. Saturday Where: Carrier Dome About the matchup: SU routed Dartmouth in the second round at SU Soccer Stadium and gets to return to the Carrier Dome one last time this year against the Gators. Florida beat the Orange 14-10 on March 2, but this is also a rematch of last year's national semifinal, which Syracuse won in double overtime. Tewaaraton Trophy finalist Mikey Meagher, from Liverpool, plays goalie for the Gators, but SU has a Tewaaraton finalist of its own in junior attack Alyssa Murray, who scored 10 points in the win against Dartmouth.
